From the recording Friendships
I wrote this song about missing friends over the pandemic. It follows my journey of longing to see old friends to eventually making a trip back to my hometown to see them. It really encompasses a lot of how I felt during the pandemic, and I think many people will really be able to relate to it.
Lyrics
It’s been too long since I saw your face
Like 16 months since I’ve been by your place
In that old town where we all grew up
And learned too fast that life moves on
I ain’t in the business of giving up friendships
So I’ll make it home when I can
It’s been too long since I heard your voice
Ringing out over stereo noise
We spent our time spending too much on gas
When the tank ran out it all slipped to the past
But I ain’t in the business of giving up friendships
So I’ll make it home when I can
To be honest
All this distance
Has been getting me stuck in my head
I’ll admit that
I still miss when
We’d go driving and get lost instead
It’s been too long since I was a child
And it’s past high time that I put on the miles
But I ain’t in the business of giving up friendships
So I’ll make it home when I can
