Three Sided Coin
Lately, I have been writing a lot of music, in a lot of different styles. All of this genre changing has inspired a concept album that I want to start working on recording. The project will be called "Three Sided Coin", and will cover topics such as mental health, faith, and the complexities of the world these past few years. The project will be released in three different packages. Each of these smaller EPs will be released as they are completed, and each will highlight a different style and emotion.
The first EP will be called "Heads" and will encompass anger, anxiety, and stress. It will be inspired by pop-punk and rock sounds. Think of My Chemical Romance and Panic! At The Disco with a pinch of Blink-182.
The second EP will be called "Tails" and will focus on disappointment, melancholy, and depression. The album will be rooted in R&B and Hip-Hop, with some Jazz elements. Imagine if Mac Miller and Hobo Johnson wrote songs for Daniel Caesar and recorded with Twenty One Pilots.
The final EP will be called "On the Edge" and will talk about faith, disenfranchisement, and eventual acceptance. This album will be heavily acoustic and folky, pulling back on the instruments to focus on the words. Imagine if Bob Dylan was born in the early 2000s.
All that being said, a project like this will take a lot of planning and musicians. I hope to be able to record this album between Evergreen Studios and OCL Studios in Calgary, where I recorded Sea of Lights. To pull off the vision properly we will need to hire a session drummer, a secondary guitarist, horn players, and other auxiliary instruments. On top of that we'll have to pay for studio time, the producer's time, and artists to help with promotion. My rough estimate based on the cost of "Sea of Lights" is that each song on this record will cost between $1500-$2000 dollars to produce.
I plan to work on this as an ongoing project and will book studio time as I have funds available. The songs will be released as they are completed, with the first few being released as singles and then part of the final EP, eventually culminating in a CD. If you like the idea for the project and would like to help fund it, every bit helps! If you would like to help but money is an issue right now you can still help by continuing to stream my music, subscribe on YouTube, and share my music with your friends as it comes out.
Contributors of all levels will be eligible for early access to the songs, as well as digital downloads as I get them. Contributors over $10 will be eligible for a preorder of the CD once it comes out. There will be preorder packages including merch and other rewards, and they will be given retroactively to anyone who donates in their brackets now. In addition, if you can think of anything you would like to see as a reward, reach out to me and I'll consider it as a reward.
Thank you all for your support this far in my career, and thank you for your continued support!
